It's official! I harvested the first vegetable out of my garden this afternoon - a handful of spinach to add to our spaghetti sauce. The gardening season has officially begun!
(and, as you can see, the weeding season needs to begin as well . . .)
The brown and yellow tips are on the leaves that stayed on the plant over the winter; the plants that had started growing in the fall started up again as soon as the snow was gone. I would never have expected a spinach plant to survive our cold Wisconsin winters, but here's living proof that they do!
