The soap always comes out easily (unless it's still too soft - I messed up a batch of castile soap because I didn't let it cure long enough). I have a couple of cute cupcake-size molds (snowmen, pumpkin, etc.) and I love how the fine details come out intact. I gave up on the cupcake papers because some of my batches wouldn't come out of the paper, and my plastic molds eventually cracked. But my silicone molds have lasted well over a year and are doing great! I got mine on Amazon (I'll add a link in my Tools box on the sidebar).Ruthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10260526327947922728noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-329908845377588283.post-89638006019109056772014-09-01T19:32:08.046-05:002014-09-01T19:32:08.046-05:00Could also build wooden molds (we did), or silicon...Could also build wooden molds (we did), or silicone muffin pans don't need to be lined. We once had a scheme to hunt down a wild boar and render him and make soap in the field. After chatting up a chef, though, we decided it would be probably a waste of the wild boar, though.Errol Davishttp://www.metaphororganic.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-329908845377588283.post-27347881777334138492014-09-01T19:28:32.889-05:002014-09-01T19:28:32.889-05:00This comment has been removed by the author.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13727819396872526569noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-329908845377588283.post-59304996031948248052014-04-09T22:37:08.445-05:002014-04-09T22:37:08.445-05:00your lye calculations are a little heavy according...your lye calculations are a little heavy according to 2 other sites ive checked on
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08667528307414447293noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-329908845377588283.post-32542886992295987162012-02-23T07:19:22.517-06:002012-02-23T07:19:22.517-06:00Thank you :-)Thank you :-)Daniellenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-329908845377588283.post-68719698128774563732012-02-22T21:13:00.679-06:002012-02-22T21:13:00.679-06:00Funny you should ask - I just read a great post ov...Funny you should ask - I just read a great post over at The Prairie Homestead on rendering tallow: http://www.theprairiehomestead.com/2012/02/how-to-render-beef-tallow.html
Rendering lard is pretty much the same process. I've never heard of putting the fat through a food processor; I just cut it up and put it in the crock pot.Ruthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10260526327947922728noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-329908845377588283.post-45639994777829318592012-02-22T20:41:02.614-06:002012-02-22T20:41:02.614-06:00How exactly to you render tallow or lard?
